So you might have heard about this a little bit, whether through the spectator or through Mr. Teitel at the assembly if you could understand what he was saying. Basically, there has been a proposal to move the college office into the current space of the SU office (room 260 behind the senior bar). Just so you have a little bit of background on the spaces: Room 260 currently houses Big Sibs, Arista, The Spectator and the Student Union. The switch would involve moving the three staff members of the college office into offices in the SU and moving these four offices out. No details are set in stone yet but this is the basic understanding. It seems that Mr. Teitel asked us all to analyze this so please keep in mind both the needs of the college office which is currently not a very private space but also the need for student space and the surroundings of the SU office (Senior bar) and how the need for a new, quiet, private space inside there might affect that surrounding area.
If you would like to share your opinion we are willing to listen. We are here to represent you, the grade, and we would like you to help us do so bu letting us know what you think - that is if you feel the need to have your opinion represented.

I think the office should stay where it is. It is really pointless in my opinion. I probably didn't read the thing carefully, but is the room where the college office is in now bigger?

Honestly, the SU doesn't seem like it's being used most of the time. The only time I ever see people in there is 10th period hanging out or after school. Since over our years at stuy every one of us will have to pass through the college office...which do you all prefer - individual offices with a spot for people to actually wait OR people cramming into a smaller room with a bulletin board divider between each private conversation.
I mean, it's just my opinion but when Mr. Teitel wants to find out what we think, I recommend you think a little to the future rather than focusing on the "necessary" enormous SU space...
The college office does nearly nothing.
What if you end up being the crying student who doesn't get into the college of his/her choice and that kid from your math class and the others and parents are just waiting there on the otherside. Where's the privacy? How do you know you're not going to be using the college office as a valuable resource. If they do nearly nothing, they still do enough to still be valued by the administration and to be considered for a switch...that nearly nothing has got to be reaaallly hepful to make that effect.

i think the college office is useless at the moment, and the SU i dont know much about. I think there is some way that both can become better resources for the entire stuy student body. I don't know how, but there has got to be a way. =)
I think that two rooms should really switch. No one really ever uses the SU, and we'll really need the college office later on, so might as well make the change. It'll be better for us when we start junior and senior year.
The SU and the college office should be changed. The college admissions process is important and PRIVATE. I believe that it is definitely more important to have this large space for the college office rather than the SU. I've been to the SU on occasion and what I've seen of it isn't too great. In my opinion, the SU isn't really all that powerful anymore. Big Sibs, well I really don't know what they use the office for. Arista, hmm, for an honor society, i don't know how badly they need the space. The Spectator is probably the one thing I'd be concerned with. But the tradeoff is well worth it.

1) work hard then you can get into any college you like, the college is to HELP you and not do everything.
2) we need the SU office remember it houses not only the SU but spectator...etc.
3) things have been pretty good even without the switch so why change anything? the parents are just being dramatic.
